Position Summary- Temporary 1 year position
Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the Finance Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the finance department.
1. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
a. Responsibilities
- Handle all accounts payable through maintaining accounts in good standing and communicating with suppliers, both verbally and in writing.
- Handle all accounts receivable through maintaining accounts, issuing bills/statements and communicating with customers both verbally and in writing.
- Keep a accurate record of accounts payable and receivable
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the finance department including payroll and filing.
- Prepare monthly statement/invoices for all clients.
- Assist with budget entry and maintenance, preparation of monthly financial statements and annual audit.
- Assist with government filing requirements
b. Teamwork
- Attend all general staff meetings.
- Work effectively with team members in a positive and professional manner.
- Uphold responsibilities to colleagues as per Employee Code of Ethics
c. Personal Development
- Identify training and developmental needs with supervisor.
- Attend relevant seminars/courses as available.
- Participate in Finance meetings and sessions.
- Maintain a general knowledge of the Association including its purpose and activities.
d. Other
- Any other duties required from time to time by the Finance Coordinator.
2.Qualifications
a. Education
•High school diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education in Finance/Book Keeping or related field preferred
b. Experience and Skill
•Good computer and data entry skills
•Two years bookkeeping/Finance related experience
•Experience using accounting software and Excel.
•Attention to detail and good record-keeping skills a must.
•Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize projects to meet tight deadlines.
•Ability to complete tasks while maintaining all confidentiality requirements

Note: Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $21.87-$32.68 per hour
