With this position, you would be joining a dynamic administrative team who directly facilitate and support the advancement of research, education, and knowledge translation in obstetrics and gynaecology, from a local to a global perspective.
As the Finance Coordinator, you will play an integral role in ensuring compliance with the University’s financial rules and guidelines for our department. You will collaborate closely with the Business Manager to process financial transactions, gather information in preparation of budget planning, and monitor and reconcile many accounts. Your financial background combined with your organizational, analytical, and strong attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Recording and processing detailed transactions and reconciling many accounts
-Verifying that all accounts payable and receivable activities have been accurately processed
-Processing invoices, journal entries, purchase orders and expenses reimbursements for payment
-Gathering information, liaising with internal contact in preparation for budget planning, including financial reports on restricted funds
-Support the day-to-day financial administration of research grants and related reporting
-Monitoring budgets for many accounts to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations including identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies
-Analyzing financial processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement
-Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies
 
Essential Qualifications:
 
-Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
-Minimum three years of related financial administration experience preferably in a University setting, or equivalent environment
-Demonstrated experience processing financial transactions and preparing financial reconciliations, analyses and recommendations
-Experience interpreting and applying financial and research guidelines and procedures
-Demonstrated experience reconciling purchasing card statements and processing expense reimbursements
-Demonstrated experience processing invoices and preparing and/or processing journal entries
-Demonstrated understanding of financial management procedures, accounting principles and procedures, an ability to accurately interpret and apply guidelines, procedures and regulations to a variety of tasks
-Experience monitoring and reconciling research accounts
-Experience providing research grant information and fielding inquiries
-Proficiency with SAP systems, including Financial Information System (FIS) and Research Information System (RIS), or similar systems
-Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
-Strong organizational skills and an ability to work in a high volume environment that requires multi-tasking on varied duties and an ability to prioritize effectively and work under pressure
-Ability to accurately interpret and apply guidelines, procedures and regulations in a variety of situations
-Ability to exercise good judgment and tact in dealing with faculty members, students and staff
-Demonstrates professionalism ensuring complete confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information
