We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative individual for a Financial Accountant role within our North America region. This role reports to the Manager Financial Reporting and ensures accounting excellence with respect to general ledger maintenance, month end processing, year end audit preparation, and financial reporting. The position plays a key collaborative role in helping to ensure the completion of all general ledger team functions for 16 entities in 3 countries. The functions included in the general accounting team's purview are audit, tax, lease schedules, G/L maintenance, budget and forecast support, month end close, year end close, and financial reporting.
Under close guidance of the Financial Reporting Manager and collaboration with the General Ledger Team the Financial Accountant will lead select parts of the month end and year end close process as well as the balance sheet reconciliation reviews.
About the role
- Assist in maintaining the trial balances of approximately 16 active entities in 3 countries.
- Prepare and process complex month end journals.
- Prepare and/or review balance sheet reconciliations and work concurrently with Ausenco's Shared Service Centre to clear outstanding items in a timely manner and provide additional comments for the reviewer.
- Prepare payment requisitions for office rents and maintain the lease commitment schedule.
- Prepare/review monthly GST, PST, and sales use tax returns.
- New project setups and ongoing project setup maintenance in accordance with contract terms and change orders.
- Post cash receipts once a month for all North American entities.
- Assist with audit inquiries.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative projects as assigned.
- Working towards your CPA designation.
- 2-3 years of general/full cycle accounting with AR experience preferred.
- Experience working in a transactional services team within a professional services environment.
- A strong and effective communicator, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
- Commitment to excellence in work output and customer service.
- Ability to complete complex month-end journal entries.
- Ability to deliver quality, detail-oriented output under pressure with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software.

Salary range: $65,000 - $70,000 annually.
