Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Leader, Financial Analysis, the Financial Analyst provides financial and administrative support for VIHA's Physician Compensation programs, such as MOCAP, Rural Retention Program, Medical Administration and various agreements between BCMA and Ministry of Health.
Primary working relationships are with the Leader, Financial Analysis and other Physician Compensation staff, Medical Directors, Medical Administration, VIHA Finance staff, and Ministry of Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of an intermediate level CMA or CGA program and a demonstrated commitment to completing the program, as well as five (5) years relevant experience in accounting/finance environment preferably in a healthcare organization.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively within a team environment.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
- Excellent computer proficiency and advanced use of software programs such as Excel and Access
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work independently
- Demonstrated judgement, analytical and problem solving skills
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
