The Opportunity
The Grande Prairie Fire Department is looking for an outgoing and professional individual to join our team for the summer (May - August). Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations, you will play an integral part in supporting the Fire Prevention and Fire Suppression branches, while promoting the City's Guiding Beliefs.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
- Gather and document detailed property information for fire pre-plans.
- Communicate effectively with site manager, arranging site visits for data collection.
- Collaborate with the IT department for bulk data upload into cloud based software.
- Generating fire pre-plans for internal use.
You Bring
You will bring a mature attitude and the ability to work independently, set priorities, meet established deadlines and maintain documentation. You must demonstrate effective communication, a keen attention to detail, the ability to enter data, and record-keeping skills.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
- Advanced understanding of office functions through Microsoft Office Suite, and other supporting software and devices such as Apple iPad and Google Maps.
- Building & construction knowledge is considered an asset, but not required.
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting Salary $26.43 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement (Band B, Entry Step)
