Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a Fleet Maintenance Manager based at our Concord, Ontario location. Come and join our team! We operate a public transit service in the north end of Toronto. This role requires an experienced mechanic that enjoys managing a team, ensuring that our fleet is safe and well-maintained for passengers, and working closely with our customer to serve their needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of our fleet of transit buses, office, as well as the administration of bus records and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Overseeing the operation of the Maintenance Department with the goal of
- Ensuring our fleet is clean, well-maintained, safe and road-worthy
- Maximizing fleet availability for the benefit of our passengers
- Ensuring that policies and procedures are followed and developed where missing
- Ensuring that the Maintenance Department follows the contractual obligations to our Client
- As a member of the Management Team at our Concord location, regularly meeting with colleagues to identify service requirements and solve issues as they arise
- Hiring, retaining, scheduling and disciplining our team of mechanics and apprentices as appropriate
- Ensuring that the team meets annual licensing and training requirements
- Monitoring the completion of preventative and periodic maintenance, as well as any special campaigns, such as air conditioning, heating engine refreshes
- Submitting and tracking maintenance claims
- Overseeing and coordinating the activities of the Body Shop, Parts, Facilities Maintenance and Cleaning staff
- Overseeing the completion of administrative activities are completed as required, including invoicing, performance tracking, and the updating of personnel files
- Other duties may be assigned by Management
Qualifications
- 10 years experience as a 310T Mechanic for a commercial fleet
- Experience with transit or coach buses would be an asset
- Experience with a commercial truck or similar fleet would be a suitable alternative
- 3-5 years managing a Maintenance operation
- Must be energetic, reliable and well-organized
- Must be a calm problem-solver and strong communicator
- Proficient with computers, including maintenance tracking software
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the Maintenance Department if required

Compensation: Competitive pay and benefits package, commensurate with experience

Schedule: Typical work week will be 40 hours, but must be flexible when the business needs you to stay late to deal with concerns or to meet with night staff
