Job Summary
The Floor Supervisor is responsible for monitoring operations in Fabrication, Assembly and Stockroom to ensure production standards are met. They are also responsible for providing support in a supervisory capacity to the production team. The Floor Supervisor will provide input and support for process improvements and assist in controlling cost efficiency, quality and safety throughout the plant. Additional duties may be required and modified to suit the changing needs of the Manufacturing team.
Location: Jordan Station, ON
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a continuous shop Floor Supervisory presence to ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed.
- Monitor and enforce work start and stop times of the production floor.
- Communicate Departmental needs to fellow management team members.
- Communicate production requirements to unionized production staff.
- Identify and resolve challenges in achieving production goals with support from Management and unionized employees.
- Ensure employee attendance records are accurately recorded in Dynamics (ERP) and daily time tickets.
- Ensure employees are working in accordance with Champion Moyer Diebel Health and Safety policy.
- Help train employees to ensure job/machine specific safety training is complete and current.
- Review production standards to ensure production pace.
- Address any employee issues that require supervisory attention.
- Involved in the day-to-day operations of the business and growth with respect to product knowledge, processes and systems.
- Understand floor processes and lean manufacturing.
- Monitor employees’ compliance with company’s policies and issue disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Familiarize yourself with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and past practice.
- Assist in conducting employee performance reviews.
Technical Requirements:
- Knowledge of ERP Systems (Dynamic AX, SAP, Associated Business Software)
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to Read Engineering Prints
Qualifications:
- Experience/knowledge with Sheet Metal Fabrication, Assembly Processes, Warehouse Logistics;
- Mechanically inclined - ability to troubleshoot/understand equipment problems;
- 3-5 years of previous manufacturing and supervisory experience;
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills;
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles;
- Functional understanding of fabrication equipment (CNC Turret Punch, Press Brake, Spot-welders, TIG welding, Robotics).
Education:
- Bachelor Degree/Technical College Diploma/High technical competency
- Relevant work experience in Manufacturing Environment
Environment:
- Rotating shifts (Opening 6:00am – 2:00, Days 8:30 – 4:30, Afternoons 4:00 – 12:00)
- Required Walking, Sitting, Standing within Manufacturing Plant
- Managing a Unionized workforce
