Job Summary

Financial Services Branch (FSB) operates under the Financial Corporate Services Division of MCFD. FSB offers a complete range of financial and management services to support the ministry's strategic direction and lead the ministry's system of financial administration.
Reporting to Manager, Audit & Assurance, the Financial Analyst is mainly responsible for conducting financial analysis of agencies that contract with MCFD. The Financial Analyst must possess a strong attention to detail with an emphasis on number precision to ensure financial analysis is accurate and represents the agencies' performance & use of the Ministry's funding in a fair and factual manner.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in a recognized financial management or accounting program (e.g. Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics); AND
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in conducting detailed financial statement analyses.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience in conducting financial risk assessments involving multiple risk factors.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in developing financial reports, report writing and analyzing financial data for trends and recommending actions.
• Minimum one (1) years' experience in conduction complex financial analysis.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
• More than two (2) years' experience in conducting complex financial analysis.
• Experience working with publicly funded service providers such as adoption agencies and delegated aboriginal agencies.

Currently there is one (1) permanent opportunity available.
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Children and Family Development offices: Campbell River, Cranbrook, Nanaimo, Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Surrey, Port Moody, Williams Lake, Burnaby or Duncan.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
