Job Summary

The Finance Services Branch is responsible for coordinating and supporting the financial services for the Economy Sector which includes the Ministries of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Labour, Municipal Affairs, and Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.
The Financial Analyst - Budgets provides advisory services to the economy sector ministries, in the preparation of annual budgets; conduct proactive reporting and analysis of financial information. This position also participates in the development and maintenance of a framework for setting, measuring, analyzing and reporting on financial performance; integrates the reporting of financial and operational results; and assesses and makes recommendations on the financial implications of new initiatives.

In addition, you are a self-motivated, proactive thinker, who possesses strong problem solving skills and takes initiative. Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, commerce, recognized financial management/accounting program, or related field and at least one (1) year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in business administration, commerce, recognized financial management/accounting program, or related field and at three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.

Related experience must include all of the following:
  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget development and evaluation.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements.
  • Experience developing financial reports.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
  • Experience with Corporate Financial System (CFS) (Budget model)
  • Experience with Corporate Financial System (Reporting) (WFR / Discover)
  • Advanced experience working with excel
