Seeking multiple reliable and qualified Front End Loader Operators to join our team of experienced winter maintenance professionals. Reporting to one of the City of Toronto’s Winter Maintenance Depots, the selected candidates will be responsible for operating Heavy Equipment (Front End Loaders, Backhoes) for the purposes of roadway plowing, snow removal and various other duties as assigned. Attention to detail, ability to follow direction and ability to complete assigned tasks with safety as the highest priority are considered key qualifications for these positions.
Several positions are available for “Call-in” operators (to be available through the duration of the contract to report to their assigned Winter Maintenance Depot during winter events). Those selected for “Call-in” positions must be available to show up to the Depot 24/7, with no exceptions, ready to work within 1.5 hours of notification from a text based dispatching system that must be actively responded to. Call-in operators will be paid a daily standby rate (plus an operating rate when called in). The payment of standby is completely dependent upon the guarantee of 24/7 availability, readily answered communications, and showing up promptly and on time when called in for work. Call-in Operators will also be required to report to the depot weekly for training purposes when required. Operators selected for “call-in” positions may be able to work other jobs unrelated to winter maintenance work, provided they are available to report for duty when called in for winter operations.
