Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position of Full-timeReceiving Clerk to join our team at our Home and Agro Centre located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
The Receiving Clerk will be responsible for receiving merchandise to the Home Centre standards.
Reporting to the Receiving Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Come to work with a positive and professional approach and attitude
- Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
- Provide outstanding and courteous customer service; includes greeting customers at the earliest possible moment
- Prioritize service to customers over other tasks, meetings or discussions
- Ensure the “Care Commitment” Program is followed
- Receive merchandise to department standards; includes confirming all Bill of Lading (“BoL”) items
- Complete claims against suppliers to department standards; in regards to damage, shortage and overages
- Do not allow Warranty Stock for return to pile up, must be filed at least every two weeks
- Ship all merchandise in a manner which protects the merchandise; this includes accurate and clear labels
- Maintain the warehouse in a manner which meets all department standards
- Ensure merchandise, displays and bunk ends consistently meet Dawson Co-operative Union standards as directed
- Communicate with Customers, Management and other staff regarding arrival of merchandise, special or out-of-stock merchandise and any other pertinent information that effects department operations
- Maintain constant alert against the unauthorized removal of merchandise
- Operate cash register as required
- Assist with inventory counts as required
- Be able to safely hand-lift product up to 50 pounds in weight repeatedly over longer periods of time, including into overhead locations
- Be able to work outdoors in cold and poor weather conditions to receive freight trucks or put away product
- Clear walkways and receiving doors of accumulated snow during winter months
- Assist on the sales floor and find proactive ways to add value to customers purchases
- Adhere to all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures
- Adhere to all Dawson Co-operative Union health and safety standards, per the Health and Safety manual
- Plan for self development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Demonstrated data entry skills
- Positive and results oriented attitude; to prospect, communicate and identify opportunities for success

- Reliable and responsible
- Detail oriented to ensure accuracy
- Requires physical fitness to lift up to 50 pounds, and to load and unload inventory
- Emerging ability to manage relationships at all levels
