JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of General Machinist located at our Northeast Productions in New Liskeard, Ontario.
Reporting to the Trades Management Supervisor, Dymond Work Centre, the General Machinist is responsible to perform production-machining operations to specifications on a variety of materials. Assignments are typically of a critical, non-routine nature. Work is completed under the limited direction and/or guidance of the machine Shop Supervisor

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Set up and operate equipment such as lathes, drills, and milling machines.
- Determine and prepare and jigs or special attachments needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints or drawings necessary to complete assignments. Prepare own layouts.
- Use micrometers, vernier calipers and other precision measuring tools to ensure in-process or that finished product matches specified tolerances.
- Perform maintenance and cleanup of work area.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12 or equivalent and successful completion of an 8000hr apprenticeship in General Machining
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a General Machinist Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal Machinists)
- Have the ability to set up and use jigs, fixtures (collets), arbors, mandrels, centers, clamps.
- Sufficient math skills to compute angels, radii, bolt circles and other dimensions.
- Work to tolerances within .001 inch.
- Must be able to do tool layouts, read blueprints, adjust feed rate, depth of cuts
- Knowledge of and willingness to use appropriate safety measures and equipment
- Fluent with creating programs on Fanuc control on both CNC Milling Machines and Lathes
- Experience on vertical boring mills.
- Experienced on complex set-ups.
- Organized and understand direction
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate with a broad range of people (verbal and in writing);
- Valid Class G Drivers Licence;
