Horizon Court Properties is currently seeking a General Maintenance Worker – Property Maintenance.
Accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor, the General Maintenance worker must have a knowledge of and demonstrated experience in general repairs and carpentry and repair and the ability to use hand and power tools. They will know how to use landscaping and snow removal equipment and basic cleaning equipment. The General Maintenance worker will work with a team of maintenance workers to provide exterior and interior property maintenance and efficiently complete work orders. General duties include maintenance and repairs, landscaping, snow removal, and unit turnovers for Horizon Court Properties rental apartments. The General Maintenance worker will ensure a professional level of customer service to all tenants and will be available for “on-call” and “after-hours” services as assigned.
The General Maintenance worker will be responsible to troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs, perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician and inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair. They will assist in the maintenance and general upkeep of facilities and property of the company. This position will ensure the completion landscaping duties and general upkeep of facilities. During inclement weather, this position will keep the grounds free from snow and ice using designated equipment. In this role, it is necessary to possess and maintain an understanding of building systems, including (but not limited to): emergency lighting, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, security systems and heat systems.

The successful applicant must be capable of performing a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision and be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. They must be physically able to climb ladders, bend and/or crawl into difficult spaces and list up to 50lbs at a time. A grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset. You must possess a clear criminal record check and valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License. The ideal candidate will possess fire-safety and safety training as well as first-aid training or be willing to obtain these within the first 3 months of employment.
