We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead our operations in Olds, Alberta towards continued success. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, possess strong leadership skills, and have a deep understanding of the radio broadcasting industry. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the stations’ day-to-day operations, including sales and programming. Furthermore, you will also be responsible for implementing and executing strategies to grow and maintain audience share and revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute programming strategies aligned with the station's overall objectives and target audience.
- Oversee and manage on-air talent, providing coaching and feedback for content and performance.
- Work closely with sales teams to create and execute sponsorship opportunities and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships within local communities and other industry stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, adapting programming and strategies for competitiveness and relevance.
- Create and manage the programming budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Collaborate with other departments (news, promotions, production) to align programming with overall station objectives.
- Act as a spokesperson for the station, attending events and media appearances to promote the brand and engage with the audience.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for achieving overall station objectives and revenue targets.
- Ensure the station operates in compliance with all relevant regulations and licensing requirements.
- Address any legal or regulatory issues promptly and effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, broadcasting, communications, or related field.
- Minim of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within the radio broadcasting industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of industry trends.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, advertisers, and the local community.
