Groundskeeper

Wanuskewin Heritage Park is accepting applications for a seasonal Groundskeeper reporting to the Manager, Building & Grounds. This position is accountable for ensuring clean, safe and groomed trail system, road, walkways and related assets for visitors to the Park and staff, and communication of concerns to ensure preventative maintenance is established.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maintain clean, safe and groomed infrastructure and assets throughout the Park for all Wanuskewin visitors and staff by consistently completing daily and weekly routine procedures.
• Mowing and trimming vegetation for trail maintenance and invasive species management.
• Clean and groom the grounds, ensuring they are free from waste and hazards.
• Maintain equipment and assets to ensure longevity (power tools, utility vehicles, etc.).
• Notify supervisor if any required assets need maintenance or inventory needs replenishment.
• Use equipment in a safe, responsible and proper manner and ensure excellence in the stewardship of all resources.
• Participate in safety meetings and the development of safety policies, notify management of any safety concerns or hazards, ensure personal compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Provide notification to management of any potential equipment/asset breakdowns.
• Collaborates across the organization to ensure quality client oriented services are provided that meet the overall organizational direction.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum grade 10 education.
• Physically capable of completing duties typical of maintenance work, which include walking and standing for long periods of time, bending, pushing, lifting, and other physical acts.
• Familiarity and comfort with, and ability to operate/maintain a variety of equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team.
• Certificates in WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, or other safety certifications would be considered assets.
• Experience and certification to operate a skid-steer would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge and experience working with chemicals, including proper handling, storage, labelling, and clean-up would be considered an asset.
• Ability to identify native Saskatchewan plant and animal species would be considered an asset.
• Reliable transportation to and from on-site work location.
• Acceptable criminal record check.
