Health & Safety Coordinator - Electrical Construction
Aurora Electric Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team. Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, maintain, educate and enforce suitable and relevant policies
* Monitoring and reporting to Management on compliance of Health & Safety regulations
* Managing activities and advisement on provisions to reduce risks of accidents and decrease safety related costs
* Adhering to privacy and confidentiality regulations for all people in the organization.
* Working with Management, Supervisors and employees to create policies that protect the employees and organization
* Intervening and ensuring proper documentation of unsafe activities and/or operations
* Maintaining records of safety related incidents / near misses and proposing corrective actions. Monitor for trends and complete quarterly reports to Management
* Maintaining adequate provision of first aid, PPE, safety signage, welfare facilities and support for incident reporting.
* Providing assistance and support for audits and corrective actions
* Liaison as necessary with other organizations and relevant authorities
* Conducting the timely completion of site inspections & employee orientations
* Providing and/or scheduling employee training. Monitoring and maintenance of all employee training records
* Development of inhouse safety training programs
* Management of health and safety committee meetings. Ensuring meeting minutes are properly documented and communicated throughout the organization
* Remain current of changes in industry relating to health and safety requirements
* Maintaining a positive influence on colleagues, clients and staff
Requirements:
* 5+ years of proven experience in safety coordination, preferably within the electrical industry.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and communicate safety protocols.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment, and hazards associated with electrical work.
* Travel throughout British Columbia
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
