Algonquin Outfitters is looking for friendly and personable Hosts/Take-Out Cashiers to join our team The Portage Grill on Canoe Lake (formerly The Portage Store) for the Summer 2024 Season! These seasonal positions have start dates in May and June and end dates in September and October.
Our Hosts are the first point of contact for guests coming to the Bar and Grill to dine-in or order take-out. You will be a key player in helping to create a memorable and pleasant experience for the guests from start to end. As a Host you will be focused on providing a high level of customer service to everyone by managing the flow of guests. This is accomplished through greeting guests upon arrival as well as ensuring their last impression of the restaurant is positive as they depart, ensuring reservations and wait times are communicated effectively, creating an organized seating structure, order, and flow, communicating with servers about their sections, seating guests at tables, helping with food delivery and bussing, and coordinating the take-out processes for guests.
What does it take to become a Host on the AO Team?
- Previous experience in Customer Service/the Hospitality industry with knowledge of point-of-sale systems are considered a definite plus but if you are keen, we will train!
- Strong organization skills coupled with great communication skills so that you are able to easily engage with guests when they enter the Bar and Grill/may be waiting for a table.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in presentation.
- Comfortable working with telephones and knowledge of point-of-sale systems.
- Open availability for all shifts is highly desired.
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
This busy summer Bar and Grill is a great place to work if you like people as guests to the park come from all over the globe and many staff have developed long lasting connections through their work with us!
We are open seven days a week from May through October. Shifts consist of weekends/days/nights and can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis. And an added perk… if you want to live in the Park for the summer, we offer accommodation for full-time staff. We also welcome and encourage applications from individuals who are interested in returning to work for us each Summer Season!
