Main Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of this position is to assist a caregiver and an individual who has FASD with the morning routine needed to get the individual to school.
Reports to:
This job incumbent reports to the Support Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Provide direct assistance to a youth with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder who requires additional support in the mornings
● Assist the caregiver and individual in their home with their morning routine on weekdays
● Motivate the individual with FASD to complete the tasks needed in the morning while the caregiver is at work
● Contribute to reducing the stress of transitioning to school in the mornings
● Provide assistance transporting the individual to school
● Assist, respect, and support client(s) to make choices and decisions, using supportive decision-making practices.
● Understand and use positive behaviour support techniques
● Identify triggers and address potential harmful/dangerous behaviour preventatively or as it arises using respectful intervention techniques
● Assist with personal care according to each person’s needs
● Provide written and oral progress reports, summaries and recommendations on individual goals.
● Opportunity to provide respite on other occasions for additional hours
Qualifications:
● Available 7:00 am to 9:00 am weekday mornings (excluding holidays and weekends)
● Knowledge of FASD is considered an asset
● Access to a reliable vehicle
● Ability to work independently
● Experience caring for youth/teenagers
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- No weekends
