Work Description
This work involves travelling with another Service Technician to test and calibrate instrumentation and equipment. The customers we service are primarily based in the Food Industry and cover a wide variety of process measurement and controls instrumentation. Responding to trouble calls, diagnosing equipment problems and completing the corresponding reports of all service is also involved.
Education
A diploma or certification in Instrumentation and Controls or similar fields is preferred.
Familiarity with the following would be an asset:
- Sensors and instrumentation related to: temperature, pressure, level, flow and conductivity
- Controllers, recorders and transmitters
- Multi-meters and similar other calibration equipment
- Motors, pumps and heat exchangers
- 4 to 20mA control loops
- P&IDs
- PLC programming
Additional Information
Control Tech is a small company that has been operating for over 25 years with a strong reputation. It currently consists of the Owner / Operator and one other Service Technician.
Days generally start early between 5:00 and 7:00am in Brighton, Ontario where the equipment, tools and company vehicle are based. From there we travel to customer locations across southern Ontario. The majority of our customers are located west of Ajax but range north to Sudbury, west to London and east to Ottawa.
There is extensive travel. A valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances is required. Customer needs dictate the schedule, it fluctuates regularly and is not consistent from week to week. Working some Saturdays / Sundays and overtime is not irregular. There are also overnight hotel stays on average 1 to 2 times a month for more distant locations.
The work requires the ability to stand and work around equipment at various elevations for extended periods of time as well as lift 50 lbs unassisted.
