What you'll be doing:

The Intake Specialist acts as the initial point of contact to share Goodwill’s Opportunity Accelerator program information with applicants, employers, Disability Services, service providers and members of the public.

The Intake Specialist works with applicants, and any applicable supports, to determine eligibility for the program. Duties will include:

  • Adopting, implementing and promoting organizational values and philosophy when representing Goodwill.
  • Completing and maintaining documentation on participants according to policies and procedures and accreditation standards (CARF).
  • Responding to all inquiries and referrals made regarding program admission and supports.
  • Disseminating program information packages to potential applicants, families, caregivers and guardians, schools and other service providers.
  • Coordinating and facilitating eligibility interviews for new individuals applying for services.
  • Making recommendations and coordinating referrals on behalf of applicants needing additional community resources.
  • Coordinating and assisting with the skills assessment of all new eligible applicants.
  • Developing, facilitating and modifying program presentations for external agencies, service providers and other interested organizations.
  • Networking with prospective employers to provide connections for work experience opportunities and business tours.
  • Assisting in development and coordination of key marketing materials including but not limited to pamphlets/brochures, training manuals and advertising.
  • Understanding the local and national labor market, community resources, government programs, and job search and career development trends.
  • Assisting with job modifications and realistic accommodation interventions.
  • Compiling, presenting, and distributing information to Individuals on alternative employment and post-secondary education options as necessary.
  • Attending leadership, community and external committee meetings as required.
  • Coordinating and consulting with the program team in the admission and support required for new individuals accessing the program.
  • Assisting in the planning and facilitation of agency orientations, in-service training and staff development workshops.
  • Completing timely and accurate Intake documentation.
  • Meeting reporting requirements as required by contract funders.
  • Acting as an advocate and positive role model in all stakeholder interactions.
  • Assisting the program team with data entry and validation.
  • Utilizing ETO to maintain accurate and up-to-date individual time records, case notes, assessments, and files for Individuals.
  • Maintaining all Intake information, and implementing individual program plans accordingly, to ensure successful attainment of goals.
  • Documenting/recording, entering, transcribing, storing and maintaining information.
  • Assisting Program Manager with preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly reports, Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI) reports on service provision.
  • Scheduling transportation for individuals as needed
  • Travelling to various locations to conduct intake meetings with prospective individuals, their families, caregivers and guardians.
  • Ensuring Individuals are always treated with dignity and respect.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all personal information collected for the purpose of intake and assessment of applicant program suitability.
  • Assists in planning, preparing and supervision of special events.
  • Maintaining and adhering to all program policies and procedures.
  • Acting as an advocate and positive role model in all stakeholder interactions, demonstrates appropriate work behaviour and communicates effectively in a professional manner.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

  • Rehabilitation diploma or equivalent education in the human services field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to employment.
  • First Aid certificate, Level C with CPR & AED, an asset
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, an asset
  • Abuse Prevention and Protocol Training, an asset
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training, an asset
  • Must have own vehicle, a valid class 5 driver’s license, vehicle insurance, appropriate registration and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal records check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through oral and written communication and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and use and facilitate good judgment quickly and effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
