Position purpose:
Reporting to the Manager Talent Acquisition, you will provide Talent acquisition services and advises to the designated client group. You will perform and support recruitment activities such as recruitment strategies, sourcing of candidates, pre-screening, interviews booking, working with platforms such as an ATS, LinkedIn and others. You will ensure a positive experience to all internal and external candidates and acts as a brand ambassador for the University of Ottawa.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop strong partnerships and relationships with hiring managers and be their main point of contact for their hiring needs
  • Advise hiring managers on recruitment best practices and standards in respect of collective agreements and legislations and provide guidance and feedback throughout the recruitment process
  • Be responsible for recruitment lifecycle including administrative duties – intake meetings, position posting, candidate sourcing and screening, coordination of interviews, manager coaching and support, compliance, offers and data updates
  • Ensure ongoing satisfaction with the services provided to the business during each recruitment and selection process
  • Ensures a positive experience to all internal and external candidates throughout the recruitment process
  • Utilize a variety of sourcing techniques, including social media, job boards, internet searches, networking etc.
  • Participate in networking and recruiting events such as career fairs to connect with external applicants and promotes the University of Ottawa as an employer of choice
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of recruitment practices and resources by supporting projects and initiatives (ex: pipelines, employer branding and recruitment projects)
What you will bring:
  • Sound theoretical and procedural knowledge of Human Resources, normally acquired through a university degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or through equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing advice and guidance to managers for matters related to human resources, ideally within a unionized environment, including 3 years of Talent Acquisition experience.
  • Human Resources designation (e.g. CHRP, CRHA) is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of current provincial legislation, best practices and employment standards in Ontario.
  • Ability to contribute to a team through a result-oriented approach by building and maintaining productive and trusting relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound advice and influence managers on human resources matters
  • Experience in analyzing and applying policies, procedures, regulations and collective agreements. Experience and knowledge of job evaluation methods (preferably Hay Method) is an asset.
  • Experience in developing and giving training and presentations on subjects related to human resources.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems and HR systems
  • Experience using common business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email and internet.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to propose creative solutions to complex issues
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
