Job Description
The Accounting Co-op Student position is responsible for assisting the Corporate Property Accounting & Reporting team with the preparation of the audit and working papers to meet various monthly and quarterly reporting requirements. Brookfield Properties is a CA Training Office and hours worked can be counted towards work experience requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Corporate Accounting group with internal and external audit requirements.
- Assist in annual property budget process including trend analysis and compiling reports for the budget materials.
- Assist in monthly review of properties' continuous forecasting including job costs.
- Prepare and/or review monthly bank reconciliations (corporate and property bank accounts).
- Assist in compiling monthly/quarterly packages for co-owners.
- Work with the Senior Manager, Property Accounting & Reporting to prepare/review cash distribution schedules and associated wire transfer requests.
- Assist in review of financial results and monthly SOX packages.
- Prepare legal entity statements for income tax return filings.
- All other ad-hoc projects/duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

- Demonstrated flexibility, detail oriented, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- A team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment, cope with changing priorities and meet deadlines.

- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well in high paced environments.
EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and leadership skills preferred.
EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES:
- Enrolled in an Accounting program. Preference will be given to candidates currently pursuing CPA designation through their undergraduate program.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe, Nitro and PowerPoint. Experience with Yardi considered an asset.
