What is the opportunity?
To join the Corporate Equity Derivatives team within Investment Banking’s Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Group as a Senior Analyst / Associate.
What will you do?
Corporate Equity Derivatives (also known as Structured Equity Solutions) is a joint venture between Investment Banking and Global Equities, and provides RBC’s strategic clients with advisory and execution services to help manage exposure to large, concentrated equity positions.
The team originates, structures and executes highly bespoke transactions in coordination with our Investment Banking corporate and sponsor relationships, while leveraging the infrastructure of the Global Equities sale and trading platform – and is therefore a natural fit for those interested in a broad exposure to RBC’s institutional capabilities across both markets and Investment Banking.
The RBC CED team executes transactions across the CED product suite, which typically includes call spreads / equity dilution hedging, structured share repurchases and issuances, structured equity financings, stake accumulations / dispositions, as well as broader hedging and monetization strategies.
The senior Analyst / Associate will be a core contributor to a small team of originators, and will be initially responsible for supporting the marketing, structuring and execution of the corporate equity derivates products including the following:
Develop marketing material / pitch books for internal and external marketing purposes,
Work with internal coverage partners to originate transactions, including working closely with Equity Capital Markets and Investment Bankers to deliver advice and pricing to corporate and sponsor clients,
Develop and maintain databases to support the identification and tracking of client opportunities, and for desk benchmarking purposes,
Work closely with traders to evaluate risks and pricing for trade structures, and create term sheets and trade documentations in consultation with legal counsel,
Support and champion internal processes around product development, risk approvals and business development initiatives
Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 2 years of experience in Investment Banking, preferably in Corporate or Structured Equity Derivatives, Equity Capital Markets or Leveraged Finance divisions
Solid understanding of Capital Markets and spreadsheet modeling
Solution-oriented mindset with a desire to think creatively
Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting
Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
Maintains high standards of professional and ethical conduct, demonstrates ability to represent RBC in community and industry activities
FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $120,000 - $175,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
