ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental illness.

The Commission is seen as a leader nationally and internationally in several areas. Building upon the work done to date, the core mandate, and the unique position of the Commission, and guided by Changing Directions Changing Lives: The Mental Health Strategy for Canada, the Commission will focus in the areas of substance use, suicide prevention, population-based initiatives, and engagement. This prioritization will enable the Commission to be successful in meeting its mandate, staying focused, and having a measurable impact for those living with mental illness and their families and caregivers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mental Health Commission of Canada is currently seeking an IT Analyst, who will report to the Director of IT and Facilities. This role may require some planning and implementation of projects, asset/infrastructure support and some off-hour IT duties. A successful candidate is typically assigned work which results in significant company wide changes, has a high strategic value and visibility to the organization. Also demonstrates a strong level of understanding of business processes. Functions of the role also include, following best practices, prioritize and coordinate various projects, interaction with staff members and management for problem solving, as well as, working alongside and transferring knowledge to other members of the IT team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide help desk support to end-user requests. Troubleshoot all hardware, software, email, network and peripheral equipment issues.
  • Install and configure computer printers, scanners and related hardware.
  • Follow documented operational procedures for the creation and operation of monitored systems and software, including network and server services.
  • Create and or update infrastructure documentation related to IT assets.
  • Support cloud based services – MS OneDrive, SharePoint, MS Azure.
  • Complete software vetting for new application/software requests.
  • Configure, manage and administer MDM for Windows laptops and iPhone/iPads via MS InTune and Apple Business Manager portal.
  • Provide wireless network support.
  • Demonstrate experience operating and troubleshooting in a Microsoft environment. Windows 10/11, Office 365, MS Teams, MS Exchange Online.
  • Provide support of virtual desktop infrastructure – VMware, vSphere 6.x, virtual machines and ESXi hosts.
  • Contribute and configure implementation of cyber security tools and ensure compliance of data protection regulations.
  • Create, configure and uplift, organization-wide SharePoint sites and document libraries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

A successful candidate will bring 5-7 years of progressive experience in the following:

  • Bringing an exceptional level of interpersonal and customer service skill to the role.
  • Operating and troubleshooting in a Microsoft environment: Windows 10/11, Office 365, MS Teams, MS Exchange Online.
  • Backup, restore and monitoring of virtual environment.
  • Azure Monitoring and how to configure alerts and activity logs.
  • File and folder migration and archiving.
  • DNS domains, zones and record types.
  • Configuration of domains and tenants, users and groups, email, roles and devices.
  • Active Directory, users and groups and other AD applications.
  • Cloud based application support (CRM'ERP'HRIS'LMS)
  • WatchGuard firewalls and VPN client.
  • Cyber security applications and practices.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision yet as part of a team.
  • Experience with Sharepoint is an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate has completed or has equivalent certifications and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience in the following;

  • Microsoft MCITP
  • Microsoft MCE/MCSA/MCTS/MCP
  • Microsoft Azure administration
  • BI Tools

Biligualism in both official languages is an asset.

Training in project management may be an asset.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE DEMANDS:

  • Moderate periods of time spent in meeting type settings.
  • Extended visual requirements (5 plus hours) due to computer related work.
  • Extended periods of time spent in sitting position (computer work, meetings etc. 5 plus hours).
  • High requirement for multi-tasking and effectively dividing attention to numerous duties and responsibilities within a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of concentration required.
  • Highly attentive to details.
  • Low level exposure to extended travel requirements (up to 5% and greater at times).
  • Moderate level exposure to workday extending beyond 7.5 hours.
  • High analytical, problem solving and interpretive requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs may be required to move, set-up, receive, prepare and/or ship IT equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in open space and/or virtual environments.
  • Must be able to work remotely and at the office effectively; including the availability of reliable internet and working environment (desk, chair etc.) when working remotely; please note that the Commission does not reimburse for internet, utilities or other home office type expenses including desks, chairs etc.
