Scope of position:
The Janitor/Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Lead in the effective functioning, upkeep, physical appearance, cleanliness of furniture and equipment in the Home. Ensures the common areas and exterior of the home are maintained and cleaned on a regular basis.
Additional Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures safety of employees, guests and residents by regularly maintaining equipment and furniture and by providing general upkeep to the physical site and its large systems;
- Maintains the appearance and upkeep of the home by participating in regular painting and decorating plans and ensures all furniture and fixtures are operational and in good repair;
- Responsible for completing janitorial duties within the Home;
- Conducts regular preventative maintenance activities;
- Assists the Maintenance Lead in creating and implementing a regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedule of preventative maintenance activities to ensure the Home and equipment are safe and in good working order;
- Provides minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the home and equipment – coordinates with external specialized service providers for support as required;
- Identifies and investigates physical deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes the appropriate corrective action;
- Receives and stores all non-kitchen related deliveries;

Qualifications Education/Experience:
- Experience as a maintenance worker;
- Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance;
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task;
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to satisfy conflicting demands;
- Knowledge and ability to operate all fire equipment;
- Customer service oriented;
- Physical ability to perform the functions of the job.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items
- Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Salary: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekends as needed
