Want to join a team where you can make a difference and you count? Lifting Solutions Inc. is expanding and in need of an experienced Shop Journeyman/woman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Bonnyville Alberta shop.

This is an integral role in which you will provide the mechanical expertise for the maintenance and repair of Lifting Solutions’ oilfield equipment and fabrication shop. You will be accountable for driving business activity and demonstrating best-in-class service. To guarantee success, strong technical, communication, and leadership skills are required.

We offer an industry competitive base wage, dependent on experience, PLUS our technicians are presently able to obtain an average of 10 hours overtime on a weekly basis.

Additionally, we also offer allowances for PPE, boots, tool and cell phone along with subsistence pay while on call once every 5 weeks. We also offer a comprehensive benefit plan which includes a health spending account, and RRSP matching after 90 days of continuous employment.

Technicians’ expertise is highly valued and as such we have an assigned roustabout to assist with both the daily routine duties as well as heavy labor tasks. In addition, we also have an on-site warehouse staffed with skilled parts people as well as an on-site wash bay to ensure unit cleanliness.

Your Opportunity and Responsibilities

The Journeyman/woman Heavy Equipment Technician is required to perform the skilled tasks of mechanical repair and maintenance on our fleet of oilfield trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment. The Journeyman/woman Heavy Equipment Technician will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Working collaboratively with the Field Services team will be required.

Technical Requirements

  • Provide the required mechanical proficiency and expertise to be successful when working in LSI’ fast-paced mobile oilfield equipment repair/maintenance and fabrication shop
  • Perform CVIP inspections on the cab and chassis of light duty and large duty mobile equipment
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform preventative and routine maintenance on our fleet of mobile oilfield trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and provide failure analysis of equipment problems and failures
  • Lead and/or participate in related safety or technical incidents and investigations
  • Stay current and compliant with regulatory requirements as it relates to your job
  • Other duties as assigned

Employee Requirements

  • Comply with all administrative responsibilities such as filling in work orders, time sheets, inspection sheets, etc.
  • Ensure all completed mandatory paperwork is thorough, accurate, and submitted on time
  • Maintain accurate, well-kept records for all work orders and ensure that they are readily available for those who require them
  • Attend and participate as required in all safety meetings including tailgate meetings and monthly safety meetings, JSA reviews, hazard assessments, and safety drills
  • Support and follow continual processes and quality improvement initiatives and ensure quality workmanship
  • Maintain tools and overall good housekeeping in all work environments including the shop client wellsite
  • Wear all required PPE as outlined by LSI and local regulating authorities
  • Supply all necessary hand tools and toolbox (as typical with HET) with the exception of ¾" drive tools and larger
  • Understand and adhere to Lifting Solutions safety management system, policies, procedures, and values
  • Incorporate your knowledge of the Lifting Solutions values, policies, processes, and best practices to perform work in a safe and efficient way while maintaining compliance with all relevant industry legislation and regulatory standards
  • Approach work in both a collaborative and independent manner with ability and passion to engage others through effective coaching, mentoring, and leadership to direct reports including apprentices
  • Accept change in priorities in a demanding, high stress, fast-paced environment
  • Work overtime as required
  • Take on-call responsibility for evenings and weekends as required
  • Operate a service truck for periodic field repairs as required

Your Qualifications and Experience

  • A Registered Alberta Journeyman/woman Heavy Equipment Technician or Interprovincial Red Seal certification.
  • CVIP license and prior welding experience is considered a definite asset. Candidate must possess the capability of obtaining licensing once employed by us
  • Previous well servicing industry experience specializing in artificial lift and/or continuous rod handling is considered an asset
  • Minimum valid class 5 driver’s license with a 5-year driver’s abstract in good standing
  • Valid industry training certificates including, but not limited to, Enform H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, and Enform e GSO (Electronic General Safety Orientation) (willing to offer training to the right candidate)
  • Mandatory pre-offer and ongoing employment alcohol and drug screening (safety-sensitive position)

Your Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Regular exposure to elevated noise levels working in shop, yard, and field environments
  • Required to stand for extended periods of time
  • Required to lift heavy objects on a regular basis (25-100lbs)
  • May be required to do repetitive tasks with few breaks
  • Stamina and strength to work long hours, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
