Jr. Accounting Technician (Accounts Payable)

Look no further as Chinook Equipment has the perfect opportunity for you! Chinook Equipment is looking for a highly organized Jr. Accounting Technician to join our growing team. Reporting to the Controller, this position is responsible for the centralized A/P for the entire Chinook Equipment Enterprise, which is comprised of locations in Taber, Nisku, Pincher Creek and Lethbridge.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn a competitive salary based on experience, with the position being based in Lethbridge. Our ideal candidate has an accounting background, considers themselves highly detailed and is a team player.

Key Responsibilities:

• Post, process and review Accounts Payable invoices and purchase orders
• Pay and reconcile monthly vendor invoices and statements
• Answer vendor and customer inquiries regarding Accounts Payable
• Audit purchase requests for materials, supplies and equipment; verifying that orders are charged to the proper accounts
• Assist with special projects as required

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles.
• 1-2 years of previous accounting experience in A/P is preferred – bonus points for experience within the heavy equipment industry.
• Extremely well organized with a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to be comfortable dealing and interacting with various customers, vendors, and staff
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
