We are currently seeking a Junior Accountant to join our team in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Junior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounts payable maintenance, processing and payment, preparation and posting of journal entries and bank reconciliations. Our current mandate sees us completing several acquisitions and growing the business significantly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Completion of day-to-day accounts payable functions, including:

o recording of invoices in the accounting system
o preparation of accounts payable subledgers
o posting of payments
o sort, code and match invoices
o correspondence with vendors

  • Processing and verification of employee expense reports
  • Provide supporting documentation for annual audit
  • Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and made on time
  • Preparation and posting of journal entries as required from time to time
  • Completion of month end intercompany, bank and credit card reconciliations

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting or Finance OR Completion of Finance/Accounting Diploma
  • 1 to 2 years experience in an accounts payable or general accounting role would be considered an asset but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and procedures
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Quickbooks, Sage, Great Plains and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is not required but would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the accounts payable function and general accounting procedures
