Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This individual will play a pivotal role in steering the company's financial planning and decision-making processes. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing critical financial information, preparing financial statements, documenting procedures, recommending actions, auditing financial data, maintaining strict controls, guiding staff, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, be able to meet tight deadlines, and occasional business travel to different offices around the globe.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide financial information to management and conduct variance analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
· Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including asset, liability, and capital account entries, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
· Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing and reconciling accounts, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
· Develop and maintain detailed documentation of all accounting processes, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
· Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve accuracy. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and automation initiatives.
· Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure accuracy of financial data, and prevent fraud. Continuously evaluate and enhance control procedures to mitigate risks.
· Provide guidance and training to accounting staff to ensure company accounting processes have been strictly followed.
· Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws to maintain legal and ethical standards.
· Prepare special financial reports and maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA designation preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting, general ledger management, and analysis.
· Proficiency in accounting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.
· Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data, underpinned by robust business and financial acumen, ready to embrace change and innovation.
· Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with a proven track record of addressing complex business challenges.
· Superior communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively conveying complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
· Demonstrated autonomy in managing multiple priorities, with the agility to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
· This role requires occasional business travel.
