Osler is a dynamic and exciting place to further your career or carve out a new path.Reporting to the Manager, Financial Control, the Junior Financial Accountant is responsible for reconciling, balancing and assisting in the preparation and in the reporting of financial information for the Firm.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepares daily cash receipt for incoming cheques to the firm and deposit remotely
- Updates daily bank reconciliation details in preparation for month-end bank reconciliation
- Prepares and processes month-end activities including journal entries
- Monthly tax preparation for GST, HST, QST and BCPST
- Personal travel accounts billing
- Cheque cancellation and reconciliation
- Various balance sheet accounts reconciliation and deposit accounts reconciliation.
- Print daily bank reports for various banks
- Verbal confirmation for banking information
- Performs other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
This position requires a Community College diploma in accounting, as well as a minimum of one to two years of Financial accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts
- Sound judgement and analytical skills are required for decision making
- Oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate with a number of various contacts
- Time management and organizational skills in order to efficiently multi-task and prioritize among many demands
- Knowledge of computer applications (Aderant, or other computerized accounting system, and MS Excel)
