In-Line Pigging Solutions Ltd. specializes in supporting and executing Pipeline Integrity management programs. Founded in 2003 with its head office located in Calgary, AB, In-Line started with 3 employees and has now grown to nearly 100 professional office and field employees. We have a highly trained workforce that is cross trained and located across Canada and the United States providing a local presence from coast to coast.

In-Line Integrity Solutions is a subsidiary of In-Line Pigging Solutions Ltd. specializing in Pipeline Integrity engineering and management services.

Position Summary

The position of Pipeline Integrity Engineer is primarily responsible for assisting Project Managers, field staff, and sales personnel in the successful planning, organizing and execution of field projects.

This position requires a person that can provide a variety of assistance including technical, administrative and communication functions.

Reporting

This position will report directly to the Director of Integrity Solutions. For project related and technical tasks, this role will work closely with other Integrity Engineers and project managers.

Specific Duties

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and utilize analysis, workflow, and reporting templates based on current industry standards and best practices.
  • Conduct Engineering Assessments in compliance with CSA Z662
  • Integration and assessment of datasets from multiple sources (historical inspection alignment / dig validation integration / third-party inspection data alignment).
  • Corrosion growth assessments.
  • Mechanical deformation assessment using caliper data to calculate strain or shape parameters.
  • Crack assessments.
  • Pipeline integrity compliance and long-term assessments.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of contemporary ILI technology, and emerging reporting deliverables within the Pipeline Integrity inspection & analysis space.
  • Organize and track analysis deliverables – requirements, due dates, delivery dates, etc. Complete reports in support of assignments and projects.
  • Maintain continuous and effective communication with client technical or project representatives.
  • Provide input to the technical staff for continuous improvement of the quality and efficiency of processes and project execution.
  • Work with the technical staff to identify opportunities to enhance functionality in order to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations, standards, and contemporary integrity best practices in Canadian and US jurisdictions. Recommend improvements of current company processes as applicable.
  • Review existing processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policy.
  • Prepare and support deliverables using well-developed written and verbal communication skills; including report writing.
  • Prepare and support proposals for new projects, including identification of potential problems and possible solutions.
  • Estimate cost and schedule requirements for projects.
  • Any other duties as required.

Experience / Skill Requirements

This position requires:

  • Familiar with and experienced in Pipeline Integrity monitoring, mitigation, and preventative measures (eg: chemical inhibition, cathodic protection, in-line inspection, non-destructive examination, pipeline repair, etc…)
  • Competent in data management.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Pipeline Integrity standards and regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing with APEGA.
  • Clear understanding of end-user requirements, and integrity management methodologies.
  • Self-Driven with ability to work diligently and achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Able to manage multiple competing requests and deliverables, with a service mentality.
  • Complex reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and an understanding of the technical aspects of data flow through the ILI operation.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and oral, will be necessary to understand client needs and ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling many documents/files simultaneously, while under strict time constraints to meet tight deadlines.

Hours & Working Conditions

Hours for this position are primarily Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, but may be dictated by the specific project(s) you are working on. Duties and responsibilities will be carried out primarily in an office setting.
