Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is seeking an Engineer / Technologist to join the Asset Integrity Projects Team. This position will report to the Supervisor of Asset Integrity Projects in the Technical Services Unit (TSU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division.


On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units, TSU manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes Facility Integrity, Pipeline Integrity, Geotechnical, Corrosion Control, Asset Management, Product Quality and Measurement, Geographical Information System, Integrity Project Execution, and Automation Services. TSU provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk.


As a key contributing member of the team, the successful applicant will be responsible for executing technical Asset Integrity Projects for Pembina across Western Canada and the US.


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
  • Execute Integrity Projects required to maintain integrity of Pembina’s existing facilities and pipeline systems;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, each with varying budgets and scope, while adhering to aggressive timelines;
  • Accountable for overall project delivery, including scope development, budget management, planning and scheduling, cost control, reporting, project execution, procurement management, and regulatory approvals;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal technical Subject Matter Experts to execute integrity mitigation projects;
  • Ensure projects meet all safety, technical, operational and quality requirements defined in Pembina’s specifications and standards, as well as industry regulatory codes;
  • Regularly travel to field locations;
  • Manage project costs to stay within budget and schedule, and provide monthly cost forecast and variance analysis as needed;
  • Promote communication and alignment with Pembina Operations and SPCC to provide information and schedule Integrity Projects; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, and be registered with APEGA with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, or have a technical certificate and be registered with ASET;
  • 10+ years of Engineering and Project Management experience;
  • Experience executing Integrity Projects, such as Integrity Dig Programs, Tank inspections/repairs, and Corrosion Control would be considered an asset;
  • Experience executing trenchless crossings, water crossing pipeline replacements, and slope mitigation projects would be considered an asset;
  • Experience in handling regulatory, environmental, land and aboriginal affairs relations in both Canada and the US would be considered an asset;
  • Thorough knowledge and working experience with relevant codes, regulatory bodies, and requirements to complete Integrity Projects would be considered an asset;
  • Experience with pipeline construction, techniques, and practices, including familiarity with required equipment, materials, contractors, and services;
  • Formal project management training would be considered an asset; and
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication, which are necessary for the purpose of preparing Business Cases, technical presentations, and project reporting.
