Job Title: Junior Maintenance

Schedule: Mon – Fri. Some overtime may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: In person

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Description/Responsibilities

· Performs building and facility maintenance and performs repairs where necessary.

· Completes identified building and maintenance projects as directed by the Facilities Coordinator or Operations Manager.

· Ensures building and grounds are secure and locked at end of workday when required.

· Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of packing & process equipment.

· Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick, innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal work, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.

· Conduct PM programs according to standards

· Responsible for equipment changeover, set up, and take down.

· Works with Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and trouble shooting.

· Recommend solutions to routine and unique equipment issues.

· Integrating all plant, quality, safety, and security policies and guidelines into all day-to-day activities on the job.

· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping

· Daily Preventative Maintenance and custodial maintenance in production area as required.

· Ensures the grass is cut and the grounds are kept neat and free of clutter.

· Keep walkways clear of snow and ice

· Other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager or as actions from various other sources.

Qualification and Skills:

· Ability to work and operate in a safe manner in accordance with Health and Safety policies and procedures,

· Attention to detail, able to follow direction,

· Motivated, personable and a self-starter,

· Good communication skills, both verbally & written,

· Manual Dexterity,

· Basic PC knowledge,

· Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs., negotiate inclines, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.

· Able to perform physically demanding activities in both indoor and outdoor environments. The position requires bending, kneeling, crawling, standing, and working from heights and confined spaces for extended periods of time,

· Ability to operate company vehicle(s),

· Knowledge of motor, hydraulics, vacuum, pneumatic, heating, and cooling systems.

· Ability to operate specialized vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, man lifts, etc.

· Experience operating heavy machinery,

· Familiarity with metal working considered an asset,

· Familiarity with operating woodworking tools (e.g., saws; drills) considered and asset,

· Experience with routine facility and equipment maintenance considered an asset,

· Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training is an asset,

· Willing to work extended hours when required including nights, weekends, on-call, and holidays,

· Appropriate credentials and certifications is an asset.

Required Education and Experience:

· High school diploma and/or relevant college education.

· Demonstrated training and skills in a Manufacturing environment.

· Forklift training is an asset.

· Willingness to obtain WHMIS Certification and Standard First Aid required. (Training may take place after hire)
