POSITION TITLE: Junior Property Maintenance Operator

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
The duties for this position may involve, but are not limited to:
- Conduct physical building security checks including doors, locks, windows and egress points.
- Responsible for responding to, prioritizing, maintaining, assigning, tracking and resolving work orders through a computerized service desk system. Coordinates work requests with other members of CP&F.
- Receives and responds to client complaints and concerns. Provides a resolution and/or informs Commanders\Managers of potential problems as required.
- Ensures all Facility related work carried out as per contract and within in all safety and legislative requirements.
- Inspect Life safety devices including fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and first aid boxes.
- Conduct monthly fire alarm, fire pump, and generator testing.
- Purchase, maintain and order supplies for repairs and cleaning as required.
- Maintenance and small repairs of small engine machines such as zero turn, lawn mowers, and snow blowers.
- Conduct filter changes on air handling units
- Scheduling external contractors as required.
- Determine clearance statuses of external contractors in order to escort them throughout York Regional Police buildings and facilities.
- Conduct flush meter inspections on touchless flush valves in washrooms. Change batteries and/or adjust as required. Maintain drains in washrooms.
- Determine waste end of day requirement and analyze and coordinate disposal.
- Deliver and receive Facility related supplies.
- Perform inspection of main fire panel.
- Arrange set up and disassembly of table and chairs for meetings.
- Distribute sanitization supplies throughout buildings to occupants and/or dispensers.
- Distribute facilities related supplies including paper, water and cleaning supplies as required.
- Perform minor repairs using power tools (drills, power washer, power ratchet etc.).
- Complete minor painting of walls and doors when required.
- Conduct scrubbing of floors with power scrubber and carpet cleaning using a carpet mechanical extractor.
- Clean walkways from snow and ice, complete ground maintenance including raking of leaves, garden bed maintenance and garbage pickup.
- Execute a flushing of all domestic water taps, sinks, fountains and showers.
- Change T8’s using a 6ft or 12ft ladder.
- Compile weekly report estimates for future tasks, inputting work order information and compiling inventory data for cleaning supplies.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a high school diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a Property Maintenance environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
- Practical knowledge in building maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of departmental cleaning guidelines, command directives related to facilities, WHMIS training, Fall Arrest training, PPE and Health and Safety procedures.
- Effective communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Time Management and Prioritization Skills.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with YRP members to explain or exchange information.
