Junior/Intermediate Accounting Technician

Abacus & Field LLP is a CPA accounting firm in High River, Alberta built on forging positive relationships with our clients and community. We rely on our staff to empower our clients to take control of their finances by building their financial literacy, advising them on tax planning and financial matters, encouraging them to ask questions, and taking care of their general accounting needs.

We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented Junior/Intermediate Accounting Technician to join our team to prepare bookkeeping and year end working paper files, as well as corporate and personal tax returns.

Hybrid work model: In-office and work from home flexibility available for the right candidate.
Starting Salary: $35,000 – $65,000 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record financial transactions and maintain accurate records while bringing the books to a trial balance stage.
• Prepare T4, T5, T5A, T5108, GST, and other compliance returns.
• Bookkeeping services using CaseWare Working Papers, Sage50 and/or QuickBooks Online/Desktop.
• Bookkeeping for investment transactions.
• Reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Prepare T1 Returns.
• Collaborate with peers and partners on file planning completion, ensuring that time requirements are met.
• Provide personal, attentive service to clients that encourages productive working relationships.

Required Skills/Experience:

• A certified Bookkeeping Diploma/Certificate or an Accounting Diploma/Certificate and 1-3 years of practical experience or 10+ years of demonstratable experience.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and/or Sage50.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience with Personal Tax Preparation.
• Experience with CaseWare Working Papers not required but considered an asset.
• Familiarity with CaseWare Cloud not required but considered an asset.
