You will have a regularly scheduled and dependable line- with the expectation of only working every other weekend. Make a difference in seniors lives, they will be your biggest fans, and most honest customers.
A Cook must be capable to prepare food following instructions while adhering to all safety and health standards. They must be competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach. The goal is to provide excellent food services by following instructions and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals with proficiency and minimal supervision
- Effectively communicates with front of house staff during service
- Manages inventory appropriately
- Maintain safe-food handling certificate
- Understands budgets and supports cost-controlling measures
- Leadership shown in kitchen including running pre-service meetings as required
- Time management shown to prepare items and follow production sheets to meet the meal schedule
- Exhibits knowledge of public health requirements, including temp checks and kitchen cleanliness
- Shows a dedication to customer service by being present in the dining room and building rapport with residents
- Discard leftovers and take out garbage
- Clean food stations and wash dishes, cooking vessels and silverware
- Assist in keeping track of expenses and menu planning
- Help maintain kitchen equipment and appliances
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cook,
- Further experience in customer service will be appreciated
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines, Knowledge of cooking, roasting and plating is essential
- Skilled in preparing meals according to instructions given by Food Services Manager
- Knowledge in operating cookware, bake ware and cooking appliances
- Friendly with good communication skills
- Good physical condition and stamina, ability to stand, lift and constant cleanliness
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is a plus, must posses Food Handler Certificate from Ontario
· must be able to work weekends and other shift if required
· As a condition of employment, a Criminal Record Search, which may include a vulnerable sector screen, will be required.

Part-time hours: 14-22.5 hours per week (or more depending on holidays and pick ups)
