- Oversee and coordinate the activities of workers who maintain lawns, gardens, and other landscaped areas
- Plan and estimate the materials and labour requirements for individual contracts
- Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs and hedges and the construction and installation of fences, decks, patios, walkways and retaining walls
- Read blueprints and drawings
- Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units
- Operate backhoe, front end loader, small engine equipment, sod cutter and other related equipment
- Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
- Requisition supplies and materials
- Maintain work, financial and personnel records and logs
- Hire staff and train workers in job duties and company policies
- Work alongside labourers as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years experience in patio and walkway construction, retaining wall construction, wood structure installation, and softscape installation (sodding, tree and shrub planting, general mulch and rock)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Fluent level of English
- Able to work overtime as required
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
- Able to work outside in wet/damp, noisy, dusty and hot and cold environments
- Must be physically fit and able to move (walk, bend, crouch, kneel) throughout the full shift as well as lift heavy loads (20 kg/50 lbs+)
- Dependability, reliability, flexibility, organization skills, and client focused are assets
- Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary residents of Canada.
