Large Forklift Operator (Container Yard)

S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are a family run business that was established in 1963 and currently has a workforce of over 300 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Employee safety is the highest priority with experience, knowledge and hard work being the backbone for many years.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Shift Foreman, Large Forklift Operator employees are responsible for anti-staining lumber loads, staging loads and load/unload trucks and containers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Processing lumber loads through the anti-stain machine
• Staging and pulling out lumber loads for pick-ups
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Narrowing loads to fit containers
• Loading containers
• Ensure organization throughout the Container Yard
• Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety
• Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Follow all Safe Work Procedures
• Other duties as assigned by the Shift Foreman

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience operating Large Forklifts required
• Valid forklift certification an asset
• Experience with forest products considered an asset
• Physical demands require be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills
• Safety first attitude
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work (Mill is transit accessible)
• Shifts are Monday to Friday and the candidate must be flexible to work day shifts (6:00am – 2:30pm) and afternoon shifts (3:30pm - 12:00am). Overtime work may be available.
