Project Overview:
Bantrel along with Bechtel and Comtech, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) for the Ontario Line (OL) Project in Toronto, Canada. The OL is a brand-new metro line serving some of Toronto’s busiest districts and brings much needed additional connectivity and capacity to the city’s public transport network. The project scope includes the design, build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new underground, surface and elevated track. The OL Project is being delivered through three major Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts and multiple Early and Advanced works (EAW) contracts. The OL is planned to open for passenger service in 2031. The DP, the customer Metrolinx and the Technical Authority (TA) are working together as the Integrated Project Team (IPT) to manage the delivery of the project.

Position Summary:
The Lead Field Engineer - Staion Superstructure / ETFE Roof) is responsible for overseeing the construction of the Exhibition Station superstructure and specifically the (ETFE) roof.
Exhibition Station is to be constructed within the footprint of the existing live Exhibition Station which is operated by GO-Transit. Therefore, the works must be carried out in strict compliance with rail safety, asset protection and passenger comfort standards as described by local rail regulations. 
Exhibition Station is unique in that it will form both the Ontario Line and GO-Transit station. The design includes a roof constructed using Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene (ETFE). As ETFE is not a common roofing system, this role will be responsible for providing feedback on the design, installation, operation and maintenance of the ETFE roof.  
This role reports to the Exhibition Station Project Manager.
Bechtel is seeking a driven team player with a passion for the construction of complex infrastructure mega-projects.
Responsibilities:
-Reviewing the design of the ETFE roof, specifically from a constructability and operation and maintenance perspective.
-Overseeing the PCo superstructure and ETFE roof works at Exhibition Station, being the DP representative on site for this work.
-Maintaining high quality daily records of observations and other information gathered including site personnel, materials, equipment, work completed (installed quantities) and issues arising.
-Reviewing deliverables and other submittals prepared by PCo related to construction or construction support for Exhibition Station superstructure and ETFE roof. Identifying non-conformances or other items that require addressing to benefit the project. Specific focus on Inspection and Test Plans (IPTs).
-Overseeing that the PCo superstructure and ETFE roof works at Exhibition Station are in accordance with the contract in terms of health, safety, environment, quality, schedule and cost performance. Identifying and reporting any non-conformances. Specific focus on witness and hold points identified in ITPs.
-Reporting progress, identifying risks, highlighting emerging issues and escalating to the Project Manager for Exhibition Station.
-Providing input to and participating in plans and actions to address non-conformances, avoid or mitigate risks and mitigate emerging issues.
-Engaging discipline leads for subject matter expertise in health & safety, environment, quality, contracts, project controls and interfaces, implementing direction provided.
-Building relationships with the PCo site team.
-Validating progress reports and other data prepared by the DP and PCo against own observations and records.
-Providing input to the DP progress reports for the superstructure and ETFE roof for Exhibition Station.
-Being the ETFE roof subject matter expert for the project.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
-5-7 years experience in the design and construction of ETFE roof systems. Understanding of the operation and maintenance aspects of ETFE roof systems. 
 
Additional Qualifications:
-Previously held construction supervision role(s) with responsibility for construction of infrastructure of similar scope, size and complexity to the superstructure and ETFE roof at Exhibition station on a metro project.
-Experience of working on infrastructure mega-projects, preferably rail projects in urban areas.
-Good relationship building and communication skills (verbal and written).
-Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
-Demonstrated commitment to Zero Accident safety program.
