The Controls Engineer will champion work under the guidance of the Plant Manager in coordination with the team members, and the Controls Engineer is required to handle day-to-day support, Leveraging their extensive experience as Controls Engineer.
Controls Engineer Role includes:
Key roles and responsibilities:
• Design of user interface panels, power distribution panels, and fieldbus layouts.
• Ability to handle multiple projects.
• Design PLC-based control systems from the ground up on various platforms (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
• Develop machine safety system designs on various platforms (TwinSAFE, Guard Logix, F-CPU, etc.).
• Write PLC code from scratch and also use prebuilt code packages on a variety of PLC platforms and in different language sets (Ladder, ST, VB, etc.).
• Develop UI (user interface) packages from scratch on various platforms.
• Collaborate on maintaining the GTAC internal code base and framework.
• Develop (or collaborate with Robot OEM) Robot I/O and file stack structures to integrate into PLC packages on various robot packages.
• Teach robot programs on various robot types for various different applications (welding, material handling, cutting, etc.).
• Other tasks and projects as required by your manager.
Controls Engineer Qualifications
• Electrical engineering background (minimum experience of 5 years).
• Industrial automation and system integration experience in manufacturing are assets.
• Familiarity with Solidworks Electrical.
• Familiarity with PLC and UI programming (Beckhoff Controls is an advantage).
• Familiarity with Robot Programming (Kuka Robots are an advantage).
• Knowledge of CSA Z432 and CSA Z434 as well as ISO is a must.
• Participation in PSHSR reviews is a definite asset.
• Understanding of all aspects related to the manufacturing of automotive stamping, welding, processing, and automation.
• Good understanding of the production environment and good analytical and math skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication, with excellent organizational.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team setting and ask for the expertise of others when needed.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and maintaining deadlines.
