POSITION SUMMARY
Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
The Financial Services department is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills for the auxiliary full-time position of Senior Financial Analyst, Accountability.
Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst, Accountability is responsible for coordinating accountability services for the Legislative Assembly such as preparing and/or reviewing quarterly public disclosure reports and redacted receipts and other reports; providing training and advice on accounting and policies to constituency offices; budgeting and forecasting for constituency office expenditures; performing internal control and process assessments across the Legislative Assembly; monitoring accounting policies and procedures; and developing and coordinating the Assembly's enterprise risk management process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) with at least 5 years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, and financial administration experience, preferably in a government setting.
  • Experience communicating with clients and team-mates who have varying levels of financial and accounting acumen.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP (Great Plains), electronic workflow software such as DocuWare, and CaseWare software.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience.
