Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide Library Technician services to the staff of Edmonton Public Schools and other stakeholders at the Languages Centre at Woodcroft. This position serves four (4) language resource libraries including the Spanish Resource Centre Library, International Languages Resource Library, First Nations Métis and Inuit Resource Library and the French Language Resource Library.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • organizing, maintaining and operating library collections
  • retrieving and distributing materials
  • undertaking routine circulation duties including checking materials in and out and packaging of materials for delivery
  • inputting data for various types of resources into the cataloguing systems
  • performing shelving and library maintenance tasks
  • providing support in resource fairs and presentations regarding the libraries

Education/Qualifications

  • a diploma in Library and Information Technology
  • fluent in Spanish and French
  • a minimum of one year related experience preferably in a school environment
  • strong technical abilities using Microsoft Office and automated library systems
  • excellent communication and collaborative skills

Rate of Pay

$20.35 per hour

After twenty-five (25) cumulative working days, the employee is granted temporary bi-weekly status. The hourly rate increases to $21.09 per hour and the employee is eligible for group employee benefit plans.
