Village Green our 48 bed long term care home in Selby is looking for candidates to fill the above position. If you have a secondary diploma or equivalent, a diploma in recreation/leisure studies from a recognized community college or university we would like to hear from you. Programs with a focus in gerontology would be an asset.
Job Description
Assist the LEC to ensure that the requirements of the Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations, Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation Standards and all OMNI Healthcare standards, policies and procedures are met.
Assist with the appropriate utilization of all resources to support the home’s programming needs; provide input into the development of proposals for the annual operating budget.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines to coordinate an efficient multidisciplinary system of admission, transfer and discharge which effectively meets the needs of residents, family members, staff and the community. Participate in the admission interview to introduce the resident to the home and assess his/her needs and preferences including his/her physical, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual needs and interests.
Assist with the volunteer program as directed; assist the LEC to coordinate a program of volunteer activities which enhances services to residents.
Assist residents to coordinate the activities of the Resident Council and Family Council and provide support and assistance as requested by council.
Participate in an effective restorative care program which consistently applies the standards and principles of the OMNI Supportive Measures program.
Participate in and assist with the physical therapy program in the home as required.
Work collaboratively with the LEC to ensure a calendar of recreational and social activities that includes indoor and outdoor activities scheduled during daytime, evening and weekend hours is developed and made available to the residents and their families.
Provide assistance and support to facilitate resident’s participation in activities that may be of interest to them if they are not able to do so independently.
