Job description

Position Summary:

TDR Transportation & Logistics is looking for an experienced professional to join our team to head up our logistics. The ideal candidate will work closely with our Dispatch group and primarily be responsible for planning loads, developing Itinerary’s for drivers, and managing logistics.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods, both domestically and internationally, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders to schedule pickups, deliveries and shipments.
  • Work closely with Management, and Dispatchers to grow the organization.
  • Works on new initiatives and process improvements regarding shipping processes.
  • Maintains an accurate audit trial of shipments/exports to end user.
  • Prepare and submit all required documentation. Liaise with booking agents, Carrier and Freight Forwarders, Freight Brokering.
  • Enforce and adhere to Company policy and procedures.
  • Must be able to work well in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • 5+ years expertise in the following areas: Dispatch; Long Haul; Open Deck; Oversize Loads; Logistics
  • Customer relationship management expertise.
  • Good knowledge of international shipping and trade.
  • Knowledge of Approval and Reconciliation process for Freight Invoices.
  • Ability to Negotiate freight quotes to ensure best rates/services for shipping.
  • Good working knowledge of logistics and distribution, shipping, freight forwarding, carriers, LTL, freight ground, and air and sea.
  • Knowledge of US and Canadian Customs.
  • Experience in ownership of custom clearance with documentation for POD, exporter/importer record verification, tariff code, pricing queries.
  • Ability to negotiate rates between carriers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and carriers.
  • Reliable and strong work ethic.
