Job Summary
Contribute to Resource Operations in the Okanagan
The Permitting Transformation division is focused on developing agile approaches to ongoing permitting and Statutory Decision Making (SDM) challenges across areas of process, legislation, policy and systems.
The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship has the primary responsibility for managing BC's water resource, including authorizations, water rights management, and drought planning and response. Regional staff deliver front line services across the province, and collaborate with internal and external partners to help ensure provincial water management is effective and sustainable.
Job Requirements:
Education, Experience, & Designation
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in the natural resource management field, PLUS two (2) years of related experience* working in natural resource management, OR
• Diploma in the natural resource management field, PLUS three (3) years of related experience* working in natural resource management, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may also be considered, AND
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., FPBC, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
*Related experience includes the following:
• Experience working with natural resource management theories, legislation, practices, concepts and processes.
Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:
• Recent (within the last five (5) years) experience in BC with water allocation.
• Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management. Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes (i.e. Water Sustainability Act) that support natural resource management relating to water allocation and management.
• Direct experience and/or education in hydrogeology and/or hydrology.

About this Position:
Currently there are three (3) permanent opportunities, and one (1) temporary assignment until July 2024 available. The temporary assignment may become permanent.
These positions can be worked from the following communities:Kamloops, Merritt, Vernon, and Penticton.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent opportunities.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
