Job Summary
A challenging and rewarding opportunity in natural resource management is waiting for you
Reporting to the Recreation Manager, and working in a variety of settings, the Authorizations Specialist provides senior technical advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) program. These authorizations include authorizations for business, commercial or industrial use according to the Forest Recreation Regulation; volunteer trail maintenance through a partnership agreement, annual operating plan, and those under the Forest and Range Practices Act. The position will also support analyzing resource issues, interpreting legislation, policy and standards, and planning and directing the technical operations for RSTBC.
Job Requirements:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resource management field and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a natural resource management field and 3 years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a natural resource management field and 4 years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes the following:
  • Experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.

PROVISOS
  • Valid BC driver's licence.
  • Field work may be required that could include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Field work may include being able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain
  • May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
