MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN

Work at a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility!
Schedule: Either Monday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Friday, 7am – 5pm; On-call rotation for 1 week every 6 weeks is required
Manufacturing Experience: 3 + years
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Maintenance Electrician will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot PLC, VFDs, AC-DC Drives, and relay logic control systems
- Program PLCs, VFDs, and AC-DC Drives
- Perform control panel troubleshooting /wiring
- Capable of instructing PLC/VFD/AC-DC Drive logic to co-workers
- Assist and/or perform all tooling changes for the extrusion department as required by order change
- Perform daily maintenance sheets on all plant equipment as per work sheet
- Use a volt meter; check and replace fuses, motor starter, relays, pumps, motors, and AC-DC systems; and trouble shoot faulty electric circuits
- Install, test, and maintain all drive panels, drives, enclosures, motors, PLCs, control devices, and other electrical systems
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications and schematics in order to troubleshoot and diagnose system breakdowns; then make appropriate repairs and recommendations
- Check and replace fuses, motor starters, and relays
- Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices when needed
- Assist all departments with breakdowns
- Assist with equipment rebuild, plant shutdowns, and new equipment installations
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records
- Follow and promote all safety requirements for this position in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
- Ability to travel to the US for training purpose
- Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes
- Willing to work overtime when needed and being included in on-call schedule
- Perform all other duties as directed by management
- Assist Millwright work with mechanical issues
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Red Seal/ C of Q Electrician
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance
- Knowledge of AC & DC motors and drives and controls
- Knowledge of 120/240/480/600v single and three phase systems
- Reading, writing, and mathematical competency testing required
- Ability to use most hand and power tools and other tools needed for this position: Amp clamp, volt meter, wrenches, drills, presses, torches, etc.
- Good knowledge of Provincial and local safety codes
OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to successfully complete lift truck training program
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without reasonable assistance
- Ability to climb ladders, and work at many height levels
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers
- Working at heights training
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Manufacturing environment
- Electrical, water and chemical hazards present in working environment
- Work includes exposure to hot equipment, machinery with moving parts that start and stop automatically, and spending 8 hours a day on your feet
- Moving from one area to another may require stepping over and/or ducking under objects
