Reporting to the Senior Warehouse Manager, this role manages the Maintenance department ensuring optimal safe and compliant operation of the Distribution Centre. This includes compliance with government legislation, health and safety standards, and food safety standards. The manager is responsible to provide and implement innovative solutions for full building maintenance, such as fabrication of materials, repairs and maintenance of all equipment and automation materials. Manage day to day operating cost including payroll, procurement of new equipment, installations and building repairs.
Qualifications:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in a distribution or manufacturing warehouse environment with preferred experience in a frozen / ammonia refrigerated operation
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a management role supervising mechanical staff
- Possession of a Industrial Electrician (442A) and /or Industrial Millwright (433A) or Building Environment System Operator, Certified Engineering Technologist is highly preferred
- Proven mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair skills
- Experienced in developing 'preventative maintenance' programs for facility and material handling equipment
- Valid Certificate of Qualification as a 2nd Class Operating Engineer or Refrigeration Operator Class 'A' or 'B' license in the Province of Ontario is a strong asset
- Fully familiar with engineering standards, fire code, general building maintenance and their adaptation in a distribution warehouse
- Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, process improvement and decision-making skills

- Ensures preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment/machinery is adhered to. (prevent any downtime to production and ensure the warehouse can perform at optimal efficiency)
- Ensure food safety practices and HACCP requirements are met at all times to ensure acceptable standards in our internal monthly food audits and annual 3rd party external audit.
- Prepare Maintenance and Facilities department budgets. Manage and approve all expenditures for the department.
- Manage, coach and develop a team of supervisors, support staff and Facilities employees.
- Source, research, and implement new technologies to support our commitment to corporate suitability.
- Work closely with other departments and committees to support and execute requests; JHSC, Distribution Advisory Team, Driver Committee
- Monitor the maintenance of ammonia refrigeration system. This follows strict regulatory compliance with TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority)
- Responsible for developing, implementing and training all Maintenance employees on safety procedures
