Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the incumbent monitors & maintains the hotel’s facilities and equipment to preserve the brand image, and maximize the life of facilities and equipment and optimize the safety and comfort of guests, while maintaining company and legislative standards.
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the property; working day, evening shifts and/or weekends.
- Implement maintenance activities schedules to cover all tasks to be completed on a regular basis, and plan for responding to emergency situations.
- General painting, wall repairs, general maintenance of building and grounds
- Responds to guest calls when on duty.
- Supports the service personnel in any way possible to enhance guest services.
- Responds to Front desk calls, assisting in checking rooms, luggage delivery and guest special request.
- Reports any equipment malfunction, emergency situations or suspicious persons to the Manager.
- Anticipates identifies and corrects system breakdowns to achieve guest satisfaction.
- Communicates with the Maintenance Manager and co-workers regarding product/service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems, etc.
- Is fully prepared for fire alarm procedures and other safety requirements.
- Is familiar with the location of how to control the supply of water, electricity and gas in an emergency situation.
- Refurbishes furniture and fixtures within the hotel such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paints and finishes furniture and fixtures, if needed.
- Performs routine maintenance on air handling units
- Able to troubleshoot, follow and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Reports work completed daily to supervisor.
- Removes snow/ice surrounding the hotel.
- Maintains pool facilities in clean and orderly condition.
- Some janitorial work inside/outside of the building, keeping the hotel’s appearance at its best.
- Ensure compliance with the hotel’s Occupational Health & Safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Experience as a hotel Maintenance Person.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A “hands-on individual” knowledgeable in general maintenance, drywall, grounds maintenance, etc.
- Ability to deal with all levels of management in a professional manner.
