Job Description
Reporting directly to the Plant Maintenance Superintendent, the primary responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician are focused on the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of all plant equipment. This position troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs a wide variety of equipment. Heavy emphasis will focus on compliance with safety standards for systems in a gas plant facility. As a member of the Harmattan team, the Maintenance Technician will play a key role in assisting other team members in both operations and maintenance when needed.
You Will
Perform all actions related to AltaGas' preventive maintenance program including, but not limited to, equipment and test equipment calibration and alignment, inspection, testing, lubrication, steam trap survey, repair hose hydro testing, air leak survey, pond sampling, fugitive emission leak survey hoist inspections).
Perform other maintenance activities such as plowing snow, grading roads, and general building maintenance (i.e. door repairs, painting, furnaces, septic issues, steam tracing repairs).
Serve as a resource for personnel concerning, mechanical systems operation and maintenance.
Ensure maintenance of equipment and repairs when required.
Help solve problems related to maintenance.
Suggest continuous improvement projects.
Participate in equipment installation and help during start-ups.
Test equipment to ensure productivity and performance.
Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures such as Lockout/Tag-out, Confined Space, and PPE are followed by themselves and by others working in and around plant machinery.
Provide support to operations in running machines at standard speeds to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Respond quickly to address downtime issues promptly and effectively.
Lead and/or participate in root cause analysis for operating problems including the identification of contributing causes for unplanned downtime and work to eliminate the root cause to drive continuous improvement.
Safely operate all plant equipment (trucks, cranes, tractors, pickers, and forklifts).
Understand and comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety policies while conducting maintenance.
Maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of work areas and shop areas.
Act as a team player by assisting in ad hoc work, both in operations and maintenance, as it arises.
Work at heights in confined spaces.
Assist the Management Team during all outage periods.
Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel on matters of the daily operation of the plant.
Oversee the activities of contractors and vendors and assist if required.
You Have
Strong skills and knowledge in mechanical gas plant systems and equipment. Strong troubleshooting abilities.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in gas plant operations is preferred.
Steamfitter-Pipefitter Journeyman Certification or apprentice preferred.
Minimum high school diploma/ GED required. College diploma preferred.
Valid driver's license.
